My Fair Lady remake

Post by Chari910 » Mon Sep 15, 2008 11:03 am

Columbia announced this project for 2010.

For ELiza's role, Keira Knightly or Anne Hathaway are being considered.

No news on Professor Higgins yet.

I think Jason will be wonderful. Higgins 'sang' but they were more like speaking along the music. So I don't think they really need a good singer for the part.

May I beg your indulgence and refer you to our "foolie" of 21 March 2003?

Obviously, I'm convinced (though I've about had it with Anne Hathaway being passed off as a Brit--she's from BROOKLYN!! According to IMDb, though, she is an accomplished singer . . . but you're right, Char, plenty of musical stars do precious little singing--Rex Harrison just kind of did rhythmic chatting . . .)

Um. The only thing Missy Keira has in common with Audrey Hepburn is . . .

Cool, Char! Here's my dream cast (I picked people who could actually sing.):

Director: Milos Forman
Eliza Doolittle: Emmy Rossum
Henry Higgins: Alan Rickman
Alfred P. Doolittle: Robert Hardy
Col. Hugh Pickering: Derek Jacobi
Mrs. Higgins: Gemma Jones (She's played Rickman's mother before.)
Freddy Eynsford-Hill: Jim Strugess (from Across the Universe)
Zoltan Karpathy: Michael Kitchen
Mrs. Pearce: Julie Walters
Mrs. Eynsford-Hill: (Couldn't remember the character, so no entry.)

I think Zeta-Jones would make a lovely Eliza Doolittle. :D
(a bit biased because I like her)

Helen,

Alfred P. Doolittle: Robert Hardy

that is just pure genius, I have to say!

Alan Rickman as Higgins is also brilliant, but as much as I love Alan I would prefer to see Jason as Higgins.

Catherine Zeta Jones - although a very attactive woman - I think would be a little too old for the part. Emmy Rossum might be about the right age.

They have re-made just about everything else in Hollywood (sorry but I like my classics!)

Emmy Rossum would also be good for the role, she's great in Phantom of the Opera :D

I know it sounds lovely but I usually find myself comparing the remake to the classic and find some of the oldies hard to beat....Audrey Hepburn is a one and only to me.

Why do they have to remake everything?-lack of original ideas? This doesn't need a remake!

I completely agree! What's next, remaking Gone with the Wind or The Wizard of Oz? Just wrong...

Maybe it's the lack of original ideas Image

The original is unsurpassed because it had Audrey Hepburn...you can't do better than that...some older movies shouldn't be touched.
