You're right there, Kim. I don't think anyone expected a happy ending, but for those who did, well ... let's just say this is not going to be the feel good movie of the year.

BTW, I spent over two and a half hours this morning trying to call the TIFF box office. First it was busy, and then when I got through the phone just rang and rang. So then I went through the whole process again, this time letting the phone ring a good 15 minutes before hanging up. And it's not like they had voice mail or anything, which you would expect in a situation like this. But finally I was able to get through AND get voice mail, which left me sitting in a queue another twenty minutes before I was finally able to talk to a nice young man who informed me that Good was not one of the Gala Presentations and therefore tickets would not go on sale till September 3rd.

Bloody hell. You'd think a Special Presentation would at least warrant some kind of advance ticket sales. :-|

So sorry for all of the run around Gillian...you would think there would be some advance ticket sales..it is never easy!! :-(

Thank you Goodfan....that last pic is so hard to take but I guess we knew something like this had to happen during such horrendous times.

Hugs,
Kate

damn Gillian, you really had a difficult time....
seems that "Good" is still not getting the respect it deserves, even
for a premiere....the link from Goodfan, I think is French, and it does mention the premiere in Toronto, and I think also France???
My French is horrible, but I was trying to pick out a few words here,
and there....

well, someone told me the ending on another board, so I know
what happens...wish they didn't, but they didn't know that I didn't know
....LOL.....and yes, she is on both the Zone and here....LOL

I rolled out what remains of my rusty, creaky French together with my dogeared LaRousse dictionary, and here's what I made of that brief description:

Freely inspired by a work by C.P. Taylor and adapted by John Wrathall, the independent drama Good tells the story of a professor of literature who is seduced by the Nazi party in the ‘30s. As the ideological constructions of the Third Reich progressively gain attention (as the ideology of the Third Reich gains acceptance? in step with the rising ascendance of the Third Reich’s dogma?), he rationalizes each betrayal of his family, his Jewish friend and begins to seriously doubt his education (or upbringing? Maybe in the sense of his early moral training?) . . .
The feature-length film is directed (the French is “realized”—not sure what to make of that) by Vicente Amorim, with a cast composed of Viggo, JI, etc.

The film is NOT YET distributed in France, but if you are traveling to Toronto, you may find it revealed (the French suggests discovery, so like what we imply in premiere) in the listing (maybe more like line-up?) of the Festival, to be held from 4 through 13 September.

Thanks for the translation!
The last picture...Oh my God! Extremely intense. I gasped! I don't know why...I feel bad. It just reminds me of all the people that died in the concentration camps.
I have a friend whose grandfather escaped somehow from a concentration camp in Poland. He was very lucky.
But...wow. The last picture is just...too GOOD.
Wow...just...WOW!

He looks so...tired and he kinda just gave up on everything. On hope, on salvation.
Great facial expressions. Great...everything looks great.

I can't even look at the last picture. It's too hard. That picture represents millions of people who died and millions of people who suffered in the most awful way.
Too hard. If it's hard for us to look at the picture, I don't even want to imagine how hard it was for him to do that scene...
I would've burst out crying...or I would've been very sad (I'm not really a crier)
