Those are decent viewing figures. I'm not surprised it was beaten by the ITV show which had opened previously and was much touted. That doesn't matter. It will most likely be beaten again tonight as the other side are showing a major new mystery thing which is spread over five nights this week. That won't matter though - the figures are still very very healthy.

The reviews have been mixed, but the main criticism has been trying to shoehorn Kate Atkinson's rich tale of humanity and wit into two hours. That was always going to be a tall order. But the more I think about it, the more I think it worked very well.

I have not read a single criticism of Jason yet - everyone agrees that he is perfect as Jackson and was by far the best thing about it.

There seem to be a fair few Scots complaining about accents - either that they should've been exclusively Scottish or that when they were they slipped. Hmm ... I didn't think the accents slipped too badly at all and I used to live in Scotland - it hasn't been produced simply for the benefit of Scottish dialect analysts. Edinburgh looks BEAUTIFUL - isn't that good enough?

I confess to harbouring one or two reservations after I saw it last night (mainly because I know the book very well and was over-analysing things as I wanted it desperately to be magnificent.) During the course of the day it has 'settled' within me, so to speak, and I think it was bloomin' marvellous. I cannot wait for tonight and the next couple of weeks.

Let the jogging recommence! ;-) :adore

I'm so sad! I saw where I could watch it online free via BBC, but being in the States, its "not available" to me.

Same here. Jason as Jackson getting all sweaty with running, doing manual labour and getting his rocks off, is simply divine.

Not since Percy has Jason looked so good smoking. It certainly suits the character of Jackson Brodie.

Awesome tatts BTW.

Re the tatts - the 'running horse' is the badge of the West Yorkshire regiment - wiki article here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Yorkshire_Regiment,

which certainly fits the character...

Oooooh - BBC1 has just shown a new trailer for next week's episodes - Jackson being unexpectedly snogged by some random female agian - canlt think why he still looks so astonished! *g*

Apparently, not a conceited bone in his body. He thinks of and helps others, without a lot of thought to self.

Yes the Tatts are very nice. Thanks inamac for the info on the West Yorkshire regiment.

One tatt looks rather like a skull to me. But I do like the Celtic looking one on his left forearm.

Loved the 2nd episode as much as the first. Can't wait for more unassuming snogging next week. ;-)

Stunning HD pics from Ep 1, Char. :wheee :brows

Now I see that tatt on Jackson's left arm looks like the Prince of Wales three feathers (based on the fleur de lys). This emblem is used in more than one regiment.

Also thanks to Char's superfab HD caps from Ep 2, I can tell that Jackson's left forearm tattoo is not a celtic knot, but the tudor rose symbol. Very nice indeed.

I've just died and gone to heaven (or flowed from my chair in a puddle of goo).

Thanks for the Jason/Jackson goodies. :hug
