New series on M-Net
Entetainment Reporter

BROTHERHOOD, which premiered yesterday on M-Net at 9.30pm, is a brand new series that will keep M-Net subscribers riveted this festive season.

The hour-long drama is about the underlying bond between brothers who are torn between their fierce loyalty to each other and their family and their ambition for power and control on opposing sides of the law.

The series was inspired by real-life Irish American brothers from the Irish neighborhood of South Boston: James Bulger (Jr) a gangster who has been on the FBI’s Most Wanted List for 10 years as a fugitive from justice, and Senator William Bulger, a powerful state politician who was President of the Massachusetts Senate and later president of the University of Massachusetts higher educational system.

The story is set in a decaying Irish working class neighborhood of Providence, Rhode Island, USA.

The series follows the conflict between brothers — Tommy and Michael Caffee — one a well-intended but backroom-dealing local politician, the other a career criminal.

Every episode explores the disparate worlds of politicians and mob bosses, looks at how gray good and evil can be. Family is at the heart of the major relationships for the Caffee brothers and their extended family members.

It’s about the bond of two brothers, Rose Caffee, their mother, and the bond between Tommy Caffee and his wife Eileen. The complicated relationship between Tommy and Michael is one of compelling dynamics.

If they had a chance to kill each other, they would, because it would be much better for both their careers. But they can’t kill each other because every Sunday they have dinner at their mother’s house.

The show stars Jason Isaacs (The Patriot, Harry Potter) and Jason Clarke (Rabbit Proof Fence) as Michael and Tommy Caffee, two brothers on opposite sides of the law, determined to protect the neighborhood and what is theirs by whatever means necessary.

It is a story of rivalry and revenge, of loyalty and allegiance and ultimately of family and commitment. The series also stars Annabeth Gish (The West Wing), Ethan Embry, Stivi Paskoski and Fionnula Flanagan.
