Star Trek Discovery discussion (Spoilers)
I just thought I should open up a topic for this. Should we have one for each episode, or is it OK with one topic for the whole thing?

Re: Star Trec Discovery discussion (Spoilers)
One topic for all should be fine.
I loved Eps 1 & 2. But needless to say - I'm looking forward to Ep 3 for our Captain! Looks like it will be an interesting character!

Re: Star Trec Discovery discussion (Spoilers)
I've only watched Ep. 1 so far. Though good, I found it a little talky. Guess I was expecting more action. However, since this is a serialized story, there has to be some exposition to get started. So. No Lorca until ep. 3?

Re: Star Trec Discovery discussion (Spoilers)
Jason tweeted Discovery is gonna be in the next episode.
I'm making the Norwegian national dish for dinner today (fårikål), and it has to simmer for a couple of hours. So it was nice having something to do while I'm waiting... It was a great prologue, I think. (I was prepared for Lorca not going to appear in them). I thought it was interesting. Set up the story, and introduced some of the important characters. It also gave me a nice intro to the "universe", since I haven't really been into Star Trek before.
I approve!

Welcome aboard, thunder. BTW, how did the fårikål turn out?

Thanks!
The fårikål turned out great. It kinda makes itself in the pot, it's very easy to make (impossible to mess up). My apartment will smell of lamb meat and cabbage cooked together for the next week now.

Ep. 3:
Welcome, Capt. Lorca!! Happy to finally see our new captain. I love that he has a Tribble in his ready room. When Michael first walks in, I could hear the Tribble but couldn't see it. Nice throwback to TOS. Guess they're setting up for Harcourt Fenton Mudd.
That creature on the crippled ship had me squirming on the sofa. Sonequa's doing a great job.

Re: Star Trek Discovery discussion (Spoilers)
I liked Lorca. Not as in having him as my friend, maybe... but he was definitely interesting. It's gonna be great to follow this and see what will happen. I like it even more, now. BTW, I really liked Tilly too, it was somewhat refreshing to have a character there that wasn't so dark as the rest. Felt like how a "normal" person would have reacted to the extreme situations they find themselves in.

I liked Tilly also. I talk a lot when I'm nervous too!
Loved the shushing Klingon.

Re: Star Trek Discovery discussion (Spoilers)
Jason admitted in one interview that Lorca is in a relationship with Landry, Chief Securuty Officer. He also said Lorca is like Kirk in a way that Kirk seemed to have any crew member (in micro skirt) as he wanted. Although he wasn't sure MB will play along.
LOL we have a Casanova captain whether we want him to be one or not.

Re: Star Trek Discovery discussion (Spoilers)
I thought that was very obvious from Landry's demeanor in Lorca's creature room. I was like "Oooo - Captain is getting some booty!" At least she is not some 20 something - you know the kind Kirk always went after!

Ripper stole my heart, I think...
A face (and body) only a mother could love. I guess Michael identified with Ripper. When she came on board most of the crew treated her like a pariah, except for Lorca and Tilly. She paid it forward by showing Ripper some kindness and understanding. And it paid off.
Yup! Jason definitely stayed out of the Capt.'s chair. I guess we're going to play Find the Tribble every time. It was in a different place on the counter this week.
