Re: Harry Potter World Cup: Pick The Greatest Character!
Oh, dear ladies, I love Lucius as much as the rest of you, but honestly, he can't be the "greatest character"; merely the sexiest.
It's a clear and obvious fact that the whole series was misnamed. Everybody knows it should have been named "Hermione Granger." Because, as we all know, they wouldn't have made it past book 1 without Hermione saving their behinds ... and then saving them again, and again, in every single damn book. (A fact which was finally acknowledged by Ron in movie DH#7Pt1, though I can't remember if he says something similar in the book.)
Hermione. No contest.

Hmm ...
Snape takes some beating, both in book and film, and even in spite of the glorious presence of Alan Rickman. He is simply the most protractedly ambiguous and compelling character.
Most do-able character would be ... hmm ... I think book Lucius would get short shrift, but throw in a certain Mr I and that changes the whole thing.

Okay. He may not the be greatest but he's the most attractive wizard. I think there's something appealing about him.... -smiles-

It's tough voting for Jason at this round, knowing that he'll be solidly trounced in the next. But we do what we must.

Can't quite believe I did, but I voted.
I object to the bit about Lucius pulling out the killing curse without batting an eyelid - I don't think that fits his character at all.
He tends to get others to do the really dirty work for him. There are very few references (if any) in either book or film to him actually killing. That bit in the film of CoS where he nearly hurls it at a twelve-year-old Harry is crap and very out-of-character. A (rare) cock-up on the part of WB. Let's face it, he's a coward, but it's nice to think there may be a shrivelled conscience in there somewhere too.

The better question is can *I* keep Lucius distracted? Please?! *laughs*Lockhart, on the other hand, is no stranger to trickery and misdirection; can he keep Lucius distracted enough to move onto the next round?

Poor Lucius is losing to that blasted Harry Potter in the second round 21.13% to 78.87%. I wish there was a way to make sure Lucius won just for spite *laughs*

So far it's 78% Harry to 22% Lucius. Not bad considering he's up against the hero of the books.
I'd have lived with 10% of the vote, so 22% is darned respectable.

And I bet most of the 22% comes from us.
