I'm like Gillian, all this World Cup news/events doesn't thrill me, but I'm
glad 2C in this economic world crisis, that folks have something to take their minds off their problems... (stepping down from soap box)....LOL

The gal in the next cubicle is a big fan and watches on her computer while she works. She got me excited when USA played. Grumbled over the second goal that was taken away from the team by a referee. When Donovan scored the one and only goal, I thought the partition between us was going to fall over. I have to admit that her enthusiasm is contagious.

She's also rooting for Brazil, Angel. Brazil, USA, and UK. She's all inclusive.

Scottish football fans are terrible, there is a big outcry at the moment as many of our shops [mostly those that sell tartan, kilts and other Scottish tat] are selling these supporter T-shirts that are selling BIGTIME, they have three letters on them ABE.

[Anyone but England]

That's too funny. And the 400-year-old rivalry lives on.

Portugal 0 x Brazil 0
(what a tense game!! Not particularly impressed with Brasil thus far. If they continue at this level of play, they won't win the world cup)

...but Brazil has won the world cup 5 times and they are ranked 1st in the world! so it's not impossible for them to win again. ;-)
(ok maybe they won't, but we never know...)

Schadenfreude, that's a good German word! Honestly I am not being horrible but if they had won we would never have heard the boring end of it and they were SOOOO BAD!! Germany looked like they had 22 players playing against some Sunday League team.

You would have laughed at the closing credits of the BBC Sports programme I was watching it on, they showed all of the goals scored and the last two seconds they just had to squeeze in the winning goal of the 1966 Cup Final. IT WAS NEARLY FORTY FIVE YEARS AGO!!! GET OVER YOURSELVES. Lets face it England, unfortunately as far as footie is concerned, YOU ARE SHITE. [as my brother in law would say]

I agree Angel, in the game against England they won with real flair, it wasn't just the goals they scored it was the way they scored them. Real skill. Their Goalkeeper was absolutely the man of the match, he was astounding.

Lot of controversy going on about disallowed goals. Look for some changes being made after the cup is over.
