Review

Based on the popular and critically acclaimed novels by Kate Atkinson, this mini-series was shot on location in Edinburgh and was quickly followed by a second season.

I think this review is based on the two first episodes. Some minor spoilers...

Thank you :hug
Judging from what the reviewer says, the female audience will love Jackson Brodie- it's so refreshing to see him in this role!

It's nice seeing Jason start playing the good guy for a change.

Thanks thunder.

Have wee seen this yet?

Another positive review,

even if it starts explaining why it could have been boring but is not. People who are not going to read the entire thing may miss the point...

although necessarily simplified for this television adaptation the quirkiness from the original work remains in place. This leads to a noticeably different feel to the programme, and it's quite refreshing to be at least slightly uncertain as to whether or not the cases will be solved

It stands out from the crowd! That should bode well.

I think that three episodes per novel would have been better.

We're right there with ya, reviewer!

It is going to be very very interesting to see how they adapt the novels for TV - they are simply so distinct and non-linear that I really don't know how they're going to do it (not doubting they will though - Ashley Pharaoh is outstanding).

'a sensitive individual trapped in a Yorkshireman's body'

Bloody hell! If I was from Yorkshire, I would be a leetle beet offended at that!

On the other hand, Ashley Pharaoh also wrote Bonekickers (not one of the most well respected of British TV programmes). However, I'm sure Ms Atkinson's vision and Jason's skill will triumph.

True, but LoM and A2A are. Can't win 'em all. At least he's adapting something wonderful to start with.

That's good because I don't like a predictable story, I like to be surprised. Sounds a bit different than what we are used to see on this type of show.

Thanks Thunder. I'm trying not to do a countdown until broadcast. I should work on my own "countdown to dvd delivery".

I've been checking round 'last night's TV reviews:

Tom Sutcliffe at the Independent wans't keen: http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-enter ... 93435.html

Sam Wallaston at the Guardian was 'intrigued' (and perspicacious: He's basically totty. If he was a woman, it would be an outrage; but he's not, so it's quite good fun.) http://www.guardian.co.uk/tv-and-radio/ ... -tv-review

And Jasper Reeves at The Arts desk is another Marlee fan... http://www.theartsdesk.com/index.php?op ... &Itemid=27

Nothing from the red tops yet...
