Happy New Year - I was tucked into bed sound asleep by midnight - even the crazy neighbors who like setting off fireworks for any reason did not wake me up!

Completely slept through 2012 to 2013 last year. Didn't let out the old year through an open window and welcome in the new year last time. May explain why last year wasn't so lucky for us.

Last night, we stayed up watching a Christmas prezzie, The King's Speech DVD, to make sure we do the open window thingy. We did.

Late, as usual...Happy and healthy New Year to all!

Helen, try coming HERE and prying open windows, they're frozen shut. Weather warning is to open our taps a bit so the pipes don't freeze on this balmy -10* F ('real feel') day. Never fear, tomorrow is supposed to be colder. Can't even shovel it's sooo cold! But hey, schools are closed, few people are getting in or out of O'hare...typical winter in Chgo (or at least not far from winters that I've recalled). The song "baby it's cold outside" comes to mind and plays over and over. I suppose May will come eventually; it always does...Stay toasty to all of those in the midsection of this country! And again-a very happy 2014 to all! ~ellen
