It's on Oct. 11, if anyone happens to be in the area (Cheltenham)...Director and translator Bryan Doerries produces ancient Greek tragedies for service members, veterans and their families. This classical art form provides redemption and comfort, showing that suffering and healing are part of a timeless process. He joins leading actors including Jason Isaacs to present readings from Sophocles’ plays, and discusses the visible and invisible wounds of war.

Re: The Theatre of War
WOW! I want to hear Jason read Sophocles!!!
The Almeida Theater and the British Museum did an all day/all evening reading of The Iliad and it was FABULOUS. It was so powerful (because it's supposed to be read out loud). And Tobias Menzias read the fight between Achilles and Hector. It was uncomfortably hot and humid outside, and his reading gave me shivers.
I want to see/hear this… The plays are meant to be seen and heard- which allows them to become exceptionally powerful pieces for the audiences and some of Sophocles plays are pertinent to the discussions of modern war.
Gah! I wish, I wish...

Jason was interviewed on Radio 4 today about this on the programme Front Row. You can listen on BBC iPlayer. You can hear Jason's voice in a very brief clip right at the beginning of the show, which has articles about other items too. (I suddenly heard Jason speaking as the show opened, and thought, That's Jason! - just before the presenter said his name.)
The section on Theatre of War runs from about 16 min to 26 min. Jason's interview starts at about 22 min.

Edited to add:
I have also found a longer Radio Scotland interview! Jason is in right at the beginning, starting at around 6 min. After Jason's first chat there is a section with Bryan Doerries, the director of Theatre of War, then Jason speaks again from about 22 min to 29 min.

Re: The Theatre of War
Jason unveiled a memorial stone today to the WW1 poet Wilfred Owen, at the site of the old mental hospital at Craiglockhart in Edinburgh. This was reported here on the local TV news.
This one uses an old photo, but a very nice one with Jason in a suit:

Re: The Theatre of War
Theatre of War on Zoom tonight at 7 PM UK time. I won't be able to do it tonight, but maybe someone else here can?

It still looks interesting, wonder how it will work out on Zoom.

Re: The Theatre of War
I am such a mess with tech but will try to see it
Also just realised that I will be studying Antigone by Sophocles for The Open University next October so although not the same play I will get a sense of the author. Looking forward to it if my computer will let me log into the link.
