Re: Please introduce yourself here!!
Greetings all!
I'm assuming this is the place to post introductions, so here goes!
My name is Lisa and like you all, I am wildly enamored with Mr. Isaacs. After searching the web for an active, friendly looking forum- this one really stood out to me. (Quick shoutout to the amazing Thunder for lowering the drawbridge and letting me in! ) I spend a lot of time (probably more time than I would care to admit) watching and re-watching films/tv shows/interviews with Mr. Isaacs in them and while that is all good and well, I've been severely lacking in a communal setting in which to vent and share my admiration for this brilliant, hilarious, gorgeous fellow. I am also very active in the Tavington fanfiction sphere (none of which I will post because that would deviate from forum policy), so some of you may recognize me from that marvelous little microcosm on the world wide web as my username is the same.
Although I adore every role that Mr. Isaacs has played with every fragment of my being, his portrayal of Tavington really stands out to me. You can tell that he put so much love and care into preparing for that role. The deleted scenes where he is shown admiring nature (like the moment with the flower wherein he muses about America's beauty, especially) only to be pulled back into his role as "The Butcher" by his fellow soldiers were what made me fall in love with Mr. Isaacs in the first place. He has some similar moments in "Brotherhood" as well. It's rare to find an actor with such dimension and skill! Honestly, I could go on about him for ages! Since this is an introduction, however, I'll keep things brief (for the time being)!
I'm really looking forward to chatting with you all about our mutual love for this miraculous human being!
Your newest "Lost Girl",
~Lisa

Re: Please introduce yourself here!!
Thank you so much for your warm welcomes! *hugs*
Yes, his portrayal of Tavington is just so spellbinding. He's certainly a wicked fellow but (and you might find this nerdy) I just love studying the scenes that he is in and trying to piece together the psychology of his character. It makes me sad that so many of his scenes can only be found in the extended edition because the casual viewer is denied so much of his "story". Mr. Isaacs does such a beautiful job of expressing (many times, without words) his eagerness to please Cornwallis and the expressions that he makes when his efforts are rejected are stunning. Sad, even.
I watched an interview with Mr. Isaacs about his portrayal of Michael in "Brotherhood" and he mentioned in it how none of his characters are "bad" per say, but merely acting on what *they* believe is right. (I'll try to hunt down the interview if any of you haven't seen it- it's brilliant.) Woof. This is getting long. My point is, his approach to his characters is so unbelievably artful. As an aspiring actor myself, I can safely say that the care that he puts into the roles that he plays inspires me on a daily basis.
Lastly, YES! Oregonians unite!
Every time I watch "Awake" and he says, "Who lives in Oregon!?" I'm like, "I do, Mr. Isaacs! Let's get cold brew and go hiking and fall in love!" Lol. (A girl can dream, right?!)
