Jason's new project - La conjura de El Escorial

A fencing Jason Isaacs--in tights, no less!! Sorry--a historical drama concerning machinations and maneuverings in the court of Spain's Philip II, erstwhile husband to England's Queen Mary Tudor and dispatcher of the ill-fated Armada. Velvet and ruffed collars. Unfortunately, it appeared only sporadically in theatres, and is tough to find even on DVD.

Kim, we thank you for your boundless efforts and vigilance, but I can't help but suspect that nothing in that posting is new.
The site is devoted to real estate trends, and picked up on the director's declaration that he had mortgaged his own condos to finance El Escorial; there are multiple idiosyncrasies in the quotes that make me suspect that it too was translated from an original Spanish article--which may be pretty old.
But I'll cling to September!

OK, I was wondering why it was on a real estate site...
I can't remember where I read/heard September 08 ....
it was either an article or interview, and I think it might
have been with Mr Jason...unless, it was one of those translated
articles....

If you run this article at Noticine through Babelfish, it claims La Conjura de El Escorial will open September 12th, with a special screening in July for Spanish troops stationed in Lebanon.

At least that's what I think it says. :scratch

Works for me! (I'm a bit embarrassed to have to admit that I had no idea there were Spanish troops in Lebanon. I'm assuming they're there in support of a UN mission--as Canadian forces so often are??)

Hmmm, does this mean it'll see a wide general release?
Let's hope so!

According to the Princess Eboli website:

The final date of the premiere of the film The El Escorial Conspiracy will on September 5, 2008, Friday, that is the date which was originally scheduled.

Well that's good news. At least he'll have more time at the festival for press conferences, interviews and a bit of schmoozing. Maybe even take in a few other movies himself.

Here I comeee!!! SuperFC to the rescue!
Ok here it comes, the translation:

The reporter says: "Now let's talk about movies, even though this movie is not coming out soon. It's a Hollywood superproduction, but it's made here in Madrid and Escorial. It's "La Conjura del Escorial" (The Escorial Conspiracy), a historical thriller set during the 16th century, with an excellent international cast.

That's it!..ok she talked fast too! But I understood everything she said!
Hope this helps!

Peace out!

Kudos FC! I wish I'd been more serious about Spanish class. :-(
