LOL Kathleen - but he would have looked strange if he did not wear one. Most of the US combat troups were wearing them.

Kathleen, what JI's wearing in Green Zone is a variation on a traditional Middle Eastern garment. They've been issued to British forces, who apparently refer to them as shemaghs, for decades. I'd be a little surprised if 'regular' troops were permitted to wear the blue version, but JI's a little off the reservation in this movie . . . ;-)
