For the show idea, I am tending to think a bit more outside the box, I guess. I think that him being the US Surgeon General is going to be a facet of it, but it won't be the sole thing they focus on. He has the losses he's suffered, the trials endured in the military (since I believe that was part of the summary on the show synopsis I read before), his family life, and then his position as the surgeon general. So, I think that we are looking at a show that will have multiple angles that the writers can delve in to. I don't think it will be all about having an episode for every political stance and subject of the surgeon general's office.
I also agree that we don't know what goes on behind closed doors. So who knows what could come up. I just think that the critics are selling the idea short by trying to peg it in to a political arena that I don't think it will necessary be used for. I see a lot of potential for storylines. Maybe that is just the writer in me, but I could map out a lot of stories for the first season just from the synopsis given to us before.

Thank you, Char....she is gorgeous and I would definitely agree with, very much a love interest!!
And Beth, I so feel that same way, why are the critics creating such a problem.

Ah... nerd with moxie. I'm glad us real-live, cute nerds with moxie are finally getting our recognition on tv! First Abby on NCIS, and now her.

I've sort of noticed that too...Emma was Rex's girlfriend, Hannah had blond hair, this nerd with moxie also has blond hair (a large contingency of us ever meet him, we should ALL have blond hair!), now Lily Sherman; wonder when Ruby's gonna get HER turn...? He's so sweet!

fruitbat, I don't know her at all. I never watched Coldcase, so I'll take your word on her. ;^)
I feel like a Ginko knife commercial: "But wait! There's more!" I saw someone else's name also attached to the SG tonight while I was on twitter. I don't know how to get the fancy little twitter box on here that others have posted (I tried to embed the code, but it didn't look right in the preview). So I just copied and pasted.
Rod Lurie @RodLurie
Also happy to announce that @alexdawsonla has joined the cast of the pilot #TheSurgeonGeneral.
And this is even better!:

I can hear through thin walls #JasonIsaacs work with dialect coach (for pilot #SurgeonGeneral- and am realizing how bad my own diction is.

Yes, my ear would have been glued to the wall as well.
Looks like they are gathering a good team for this.
