IGN has a quote from Greenblatt

January 14, 2009 - The future has looked bleak for Brotherhood, which recently ended its third season. The word has been that Season 3 was the last one for the critically acclaimed series, which hasn't managed to get the following of many other series on Showtime, like Dexter and Weeds. However, today at the Television Critics Association press tour, Brotherhood was still included in a clip reel of current series, and among the photos as you entered the main room where the panels were held, and no official cancellation announcement has been made.

Asked about the fate of Brotherhood, Showtime's Bob Greenblatt didn't confirm the show's cancellation nor if it would return, replying, "It's a show that we love and I know many of you in this room love. We're just trying to figure out what the future for it might be. The show has been on the air for three years, and there's a finite number of slots for shows [on the channel]. We're in that difficult place of trying to make that decision."

I don't know why Greenblatt is hedging, we all know the Prod office has been emptied, the sets have been dismantled, and the place is up for sale. I think he's trying to hold onto customers who have already decided to drop SHO, when the "Official" cancelation is announced.

How long will they think about it?
Maybe thay will never "offically" cancel it because they are afraid that people will cancel them.
I think it looks like the Showtime executives are hoping people will just forget about the show after a while... (But we will never forget!)

My new year resolution is to be more optimistic, so... If we wish for it very hard, maybe we will get a fourth season?

I think you're exactly right. They won't give it to us straight because it would be bad business. :???:

I'm not American. so Showtime wouldn't care about me anyway... But isn't it also a posibility that people can cancel Showtime and get it back again IF Brotherhood is given another season ?

Well, Brotherhood is the only reason I got Showtime. It will save me money to cancel if BH is not back.

me too, wolfsaver and marie...I've already tried to cancel SHO, and my
cable company wouldn't allow me to...something about it being in a
"package", and if I break the package, I break the deal and they will
charge me more money....what a racket.... :-(

I wonder how aggressively they promoted Brotherhood to other cable networks. Weeds is on Canadian cable.

Also, I recall seeing adds for Weeds in American magazines, (I used to read "People" mag), but I don't recall any Brotherhood ads.

Edited: sorry for the incoherent post; I'm at work.
I was trying to say that Brotherhood might have had a bigger following if they had promoted it more. (Perhaps this has already been discussed?)
