Archie (Cary Grant biopic)

Post by thunder » Mon Aug 08, 2022 7:02 am

Confirmed by Jason himself on Twitter:
https://twitter.com/jasonsfolly/status/ ... 5288217605
The life of one of Hollywood’s leading men, Cary Grant, is to be portrayed by Jason Isaacs in an ITV and BritBox International drama, Deadline can reveal.
Philomena and Stan & Ollie writer Jeff Pope is writing and exec producing Archie, named after Grant’s birthname Archibald Alexander Leach. ITV Studios is producing and the four-parter will be a flagship premiere on soon-to-launch streamer ITVX.

I hope it will be available to watch for all of us.

What a great part! Cary Grant was a real heartthrob in his day - my mother liked him. It's a real coup for Jason to be given the chance to play him.

(Archie Leach in A Fish Called Wanda was deliberately named after Cary Grant.)

I knew about the Fish called Wanda link. My concern is this new ITVX stream. I doubt I will be able to get that.

However congratualtions Jason and I can imagine him as Cary Grant.

I’m really hoping we will all be able to see it. I think Jason will do it justice!

My late father was born around an hour away from there but I live over the other side of the country. Archie Leach is such a fascinating man. really difficult childhood. Anyone who knows the really sad story of him and his mother knows how difficult that was. Also Archie was into serious psychoanyalsis on himself and I think Jason will really enjoy the challange.

Some like it Hot did the "Cary Grant" anyway. Archie is going to be fascinating.

Jason''ll get the accent easily. He's handsome, but Cary Grant was his own good-looker. However, when you look at the picture that thunder added to her first post, looks-wise, there are very few features they have in common. Probably use beaucoup makeup and brown contacts at least.

Doesn't look like we, state-side, will get to see this. bummer. I sure hope we get lucky. :rave :bat

Another bummer: I couldn't access thunder's second link, because I block cookies. nuke.gif

Hi All,

I'm assuming that you all already saw this? If a thread is already started, I apologize in advance for the duplication. But it's awesome news, so the more talking about it, the better? ;-)

Jason is set to play Cary Grant in a biopic. That sounds very exciting!! :hands :wheee

Welcome back, LadySekhmet, and thanks for posting. :hug

We are already talking about it here: https://jasonisaacsonline.com/phpBB/vie ... 772#p86772
But we don't have more info yet. Lets hope it gets international distribution so we can watch it even if we are not in the UK. :D

I figured it was somewhere on here...lol. :lol

It sounds like it might be available via Britbox for folks in the US according to the article I posted, and iTV for the UK? I don't know about elsewhere.

Thanks for posting, Annie.

British series end up on Norwegian TV or streaming services quite often, so I am optimistic. :D
