No, the episode wasn't better than the others.

Even I’ll admit that Griff basically pushed my last button, and seriously needs to be reined in!!
For him to sleep with his ex-wife, then steal her job (when, IMO, even he should’ve seen he wasn’t getting his old one back) marks him irrevocably as a manipulative bully…and one of the worst characters I’ve seen Jason portray.

Not that Sam is much better. Geez - now with the stupid letter Sam wrote for Caleb which Lex left for Caleb to read - she is in essence - further stringing him along. Especially since she didn’t miss much time trying to get things going again with her CFO ex-love. And she was supposed to be in her apartment but she was busy throwing taunts at her father.
Everyone of them - egotistical, sleepy and manipulative.

Either somebody really liked it, or—and I’ll admit, more likely—people wanted a “last chance” to see the show…numbers were up:

What was that letter? He asked her for a "letter of recommendation", and she wrote personal letter about her feelings for him?
That's professional...
That would never happen, ever.... like so many other things in this show. That's why I don't like it. They just write things in to create drama, that no one would ever do or say.

How about when Sam found out that she got the Head CT position her first instinct is to . . . squeal like a 5 year old.
Mature, right??? Just the reaction you'd want from a department head.

Yes, that too.
It’s like watching a Nickelodeon teen show. Only with sex scenes and without a laughter track.

It sounds like season 2 (should there be one) will be back to bickering. Oy vey!

Touché on the bickering.
We may have an answer in the next few weeks:

OTOH, I’m wondering whether TPTB at CBS have already decided, and are trying to “wean” viewers off the show: old FBI eps are being shown on 5/11 and 5/18…

This says that it can take some time before the mid season shows are decided upon.:

If Renewal is in the future it would be interesting to see if Griff—and by extension, Byron (and other Board members)—might be nailed and punished for kickbacks…because I highly suspect that it took more than words for Griff to convince Byron to hand over the CMO position.
