Casting
I think one of the strengths of the movies is that they casting of all the characters were spot on. Can you ever imagine anyone other than Jason, Alan Rickman, Gary Oldman, Ralph Finnes et al ever playing their roles. Whoever was in charge of the casting deserves a medal.

Hear! Hear!
I think Jason would have made a good Lockhart, but I'm so happy that Chris Columbus had someone else in mind for him to play. Some of us wouldn't be here otherwise.

Re: Casting
I also think everyone wanted to be in Harry Potter, so they could just pick off the top shelf in most cases. The casting is really good, and they were lucky the child actors turned out to be quite good too. That doesn't happen with a lot of child movie franchises.

Re: Casting
Just seen Jason again in Harry Potter (AYCOS) and his portrayal of Lucius really works and is actually terrifying. It is such a mixture of supressed rage and arrogance.
Re: Casting
And Chamber of Secrets was when Jason clicked for me. I'd previously seen him in Dragonheart and one other movie (which I can't remember) and was impressed with him, but no great shakes. Lucius had it all. The rest is history.
Re: Casting
You & me both, Helen! Such a gorgeous arrogant bastard, and that clipped voice Jason used for Lucius.
