May 18, 2022: Doomsday or Renewal Day?

Post by Hot Wheels » Tue May 10, 2022 6:12 pm

CBS has renewed most of its scripted shows, and had previously announced the series finale of Bull. Here’s what we know so far;

https://tvline.com/2022/05/09/cbs-renew ... list-2022/

Most interesting (ominous?) is the final statement:

Meanwhile, the five scripted CBS series still awaiting official decisions are (in order of viewership) Magnum P.I. (which aired its finale May 6), United States of Al (finale airs May 19), B Positive (finale aired March 10), How We Roll (finale airs May 19) and Good Sam (finale aired March 4). CBS will hold its Upfront presentation/unveil its 2022-23 TV schedule on Wednesday, May 18.

I, for one, am on pins and needles….

I hope that it does get a renewal becuase surely they can take the edges off and get it right.

Agreed!

My other comments will be in the “Spoilers” Folder….

I just read online (Deadline) that Good Sam did not get a second season. It was not my cup of tea but I know a lot of fans enjoyed it.

I hope Jason gets some good follow on projects.

I’ve also seen that on Variety’s website. I wonder who leaked the news before CBS was supposed to announce everything next week….

I am sad that they will not get the chance to sort out the issues with the show. I am however aware than many of you had lost patience. It must be hard to work so hard and it only gets the one season.

I think may 18, was the "CBS Upfront", it wasn't a secret until then.

Obviously, I don't hope for Jason's TV shows to be cancelled, but there's no secret that Good Sam wasn't a favourite.
...I'm not too upset, in other words.... :bag:

It would be a nice gesture if CBS orders/allows a two-/multi-part wrap-up. IMO, the finale left far too many loose threads….

Best of luck to the cast/crew in future projects!

Is it just me, or does anyone else see a pattern with Jason’s “American accent” “Big 4 Network” shows? 🤔 🧐

I love that Jason is gifted with “accent mimicry”; still, it would be nice to see a show on US TV in which Jason is simply “himself”.

I have mixed emotions on the cancelation. From the start of the show, the constant one-upmanship between father and daughter drove me nuts. I still enjoyed Jason's performance and loved seeing him (almost) every week on TV. I had hoped that a second season would fix the former issue and renewal would have improved the latter.

At least we have a slew of his movies to watch now and in the coming months. :wheee

Plus his upcoming projects. Hopefully, he’ll be given the chance to go behind the camera again….

I am sad it has gone. Sad for the cast and crew as some will need to try and arrange more work. Also sad as they all seemed to get on and were really trying to make a statement about having a better workplace for people. But at the end of the day it just did not grab a regular audience. I feel sad that Jason spent 6 months away from his family, working on a project that lasted just a few months on air.

Onwards and upwards .

Same here, but I’ve seen some of his Twitter posts about his Canadian wife. Maybe Emma still has family there, who checked in with/visited Jason some while he was filming…???

That would be cool if true.

Definitely (although I’ve only seen general references to Canada about Emma).
